The Drive DeVilbiss Permaflex Plus Mattress is a premium support surface designed to meet the needs of patients at high risk of developing pressure ulcers. Made from high-specification foam, the Permaflex range features a unique "U" shaped base with zonal castellations and integral block foam side formers for added stability.

The zonal castellation design provides optimum patient support where required, reducing the risk of pressure ulcers. The Permaflex Plus model features high-density foam side formers within the mattress to provide support when moving or transferring a patient.

The Permaflex Plus mattress cover is designed to reduce the risk of infection with welded seams and a concealed zip. It is also waterproof, multi-stretch and vapour permeable, ensuring maximum comfort and hygiene for patients.

At Risk - Adults considered to be at risk of developing a pressure ulcer are those who, after assessment using clinical judgement and/or a validated risk assessment 

At High Risk - Adults considered to be at high risk of developing a pressure ulcer will usually have multiple risk factors (for example, significantly limited mobility, deficiency, inability to reposition themselves, significant cognitive impairment) identified during risk assessment with or without a validated risk assessment tool (these include The Braden Scale, The Waterlow Score or The Norton Risk-Assessment Scale), are considered to be at risk of developing a pressure ulcer.

Bed Alertamat System

The Wired Bed Alertamat is most effective when concealed under the bed sheet on top of the mattress; activating the alarm when a user leaves their bed. This alerts the caregiver to ascertain the user’s safety. The alarm is reset automatically when the user returns to the bed.

The Wired Bed Alertamat can be connected to a nurse call system with a 2 metre cable provided for centralised activation, or used on its own, independent of a nurse call system to give localised alerts through the Alerta Alarm Monitor (supplied as part of the system).

Hybrid-Power Mattress System with Theia 2 Digital Pump Unit

The Hybrid-Power support surface combines the pressure redistributing properties of high specification foam, with dynamic therapy. Castellated visco-elastic foam delivers a high degree of pressure redistribution as it conforms to the shape of the body, while alternating cells assist with pressure relief when the power unit is in use. A turning pillow provides additional comfort for the patient.

The time taken to move a patient out of bed to swap a support surface impacts on quality nursing time. If a patient requires a different therapy to be either 'stepped up' or 'stepped down', there can be a number of restraints. In addition, the costs associated with support surfaces can increase when two different surfaces are required.
